Tastes of Town & Country Tour Itinerary.

 DAY 1

You will be met in Colmenar at 1pm by Lynsey – You will have a short walking tour of Colmenar visiting Local shops, to buy ingredients .

2pm – Menu del Dia – You will experience the Menu Del Dia, for lunch, a historic tradition from ‘Franco’s’ time that lives on, allowing workers to eat a substantial meal at a reasonable cost. Often hectic and fast, with no menu, just dishes hurriedly explained by waiters – it’s a great way to start your journey into ‘Real’ Spain.

After lunch you will be transferred to your accommodation of choice, either based in the Town of Colmenar or in the local countryside.

SIESTA TIME!!

6pm – You will be collected from you accommodation, and taken to the beautiful country retreat of La Rosilla.

Here we will prepare and cook local Paella / Arroz, learn the history of the famous dish so synonymous with Spain and the regional traditions and variations.

Evening meal to include Paella & other local delights. Welcome cocktails & canapes and wine & soft drinks throughout your meal, finishing with fresh Coffee.

Transport back to Accommodation.

 DAY 2

Breakfast at Accommodation.

Morning at Leisure.

12pm – Collection from Accommodation

Tour through the Montes de Malaga, taking in the beautiful vistas of the Mountains, and on clear days Sierra Nevada and the sparkling Mediterranean Sea beyond.

Stopping off at a Local Venta (roadside Inn, formerly mule stops!) – for refreshments.

Walking tour of the stunning hilltop town of Comares perched like an eagles nest on a rocky outcrop, an ideal way to absorb the Moorish architecture and panoramic views to the coast.

Mid afternoon return to La Rosilla – to prepare, learn & create a  4 course late lunch, sample sherries & local olive oils.

Late Afternoon, indulge in your creations, with a long leisurely meal, either on the spectacular terrace at La Rosilla, or in the Country Kitchen.

Back to Accommodation.

 DAY 3

Breakfast at Accommodation.

10am ish – Leave for Malaga

Arrive in Malaga to commence on Tapas Tour.

This Tapas Tour is approximately 3 hours long and will give you a good idea of where all the sites of Malaga are located. During the tour we will visit four of our favourite tapas bars (hidden away and used by locals – it is rare to find a tourist or cruise passenger clutching a Rick Steeve’s or Lonely Planet Guide in these places!). The price per person includes two tapas and a drink (a fino or manzanilla sherry, house wine, beer, soft drink or mineral water) at each tapas bar and we will explain the menu and help you to choose from house specialities or we will be happy to order for you – promise we know what is best at each place!! Eight tapas normally make for a filling lunch but if you want to order more you can pay directly to the tapas bar.

We will leave you after your Tapas Tour to enjoy the delights of the city such as a visit to the Picasso Museum or magical Carmen Thyssen Museum, or a gentle stroll up to the top of the Moorish Fort of the Alcazaba.

End of Tour .

**Overnight accommodation in Malaga, can be arranged if required.
